You can follow Pro Ana diets and exercises for your Thinspo movement. However, you should never follow any tips blindly.

Many people post some tips and diets which are very harmful to our bodies. We will clear out a few healthy and unhealthy diet plans for your progress.

Healthy Pro Ana Thinspo Tips:

  1. You can follow your idol and start a weight loss program. Thinspiration encourages this behavior which gives motivation in the hard times. If you see them, they will inspire you to shed extra weight. You may download their pictures or print posters to keep yourself on the track.
  2. There must be a calorie-balance. To make every day a weight loss day, You should calculate your calorie. You cannot eat more than you burn. If you eat as much you exercise at the end of the month it will be the same.
  3. You need to drink a lot of water. It will keep your body hydrated and increase metabolism. Moreover, water fills our stomach and reduce the chance of overeating.
  4. You must take a healthy breakfast. Many think that skipping breakfast will make them slim. However, that is a myth. You should not skip your breakfast or eat less. Good breakfast in the morning will keep you full for a long time. A meal in the morning also gets digested easily than other time. You can follow some healthy Pro Ana recipes that will keep you full for longer.
  5. The consumption of vitamin B-complex and C are good for weight loss. These essential mineral boost metabolism. Beans, whole grains, lentils contain such vitamins. By consuming these you can easily intake Vitamin B-complex and C.
  6. Small servings are better than a large one. Small quality of meals is easy to digest also it enhances metabolism. Thus, it helps to lose weight. You may take 5 to 6 small meals instead of 3 major meals to ensure a nice figure.
  7. Our body burns fat when it loses more calories than usual. You have to concentrate on weight loss exercises when you are on Thinspo diet. If you cast excess calories doing the workout, the body will burn some stored body fats to keep you energetic. Therefore, you will lose some weight.
  8. You have to avoid bad foods. Many foods contain a high level of calories and fat. Mostly the delicious restaurant or junk foods are not good for our health. You should avoid the bad foods from the beginning of your Pro-Ana diet. The exercises and diet will burn your body fat yet if you take foods with high-calorie the efforts will go in vain. That’s why it is wise to control your cravings and avoid eating bad foods.
  9. You need proper rest while maintaining this diet plan. When our body gets to rest and it relaxes, the metabolism gets boosted. These two things are vital for losing weight and staying healthy.

Some Pro Ana Tips That Must Be Avoided

The Pro Ana Thinspiration methods are not criticism free. Some websites and groups had posted many unhealthy tips which raised questions against this movement. Let’s go through them-

  1. There’s a recommendation suggested in most of the Thinspo sites for keeping a diary to monitor weight loss and calorie intake. But it is unnecessary. It may become a hassle for full-time workers or students.
  2. Though a thin body looks more charming, this will not happen overnight. Photos of the sick skeletal girls posted on social media inspire girls to be thin and make a zero figure like them. Most of the girls desire to get faster results and in turn, take less as well as burn excessive calories in a day. This cannot be a proper way. You should have the patience to get a positive outcome.
  3. Social media like Instagram, Tumbler, and some Thinspo sites may suggest extreme exercises. But it won’t be that effective instead it may cause dizziness by weakening your body. Additionally, you will lose more energy and this is why you may fail to continue your mission.
  4. Turns out it is not so effective to follow supermodels for your diet. Your body type, shape, BMI may be different from them. Therefore, following them isn’t a very good idea. You should set your personal goals based on your body type.
  5. Bulimia patients practice purging after their meals. Purging means the act of vomiting. You should not practice this terrible habit which is harmful to the body.
  6. Moderate eating is safer and healthier than not eating at all. Besides, avoiding meals can slower the outcome of your exercises.
  7.  Being in touch with cold water or weather can force your body to burn calories and raise body temperature. Surely, this aids to reduce weight faster, still harmful to health. This can lead to some deadly diseases such as pneumonia.
  8. Another unhealthy suggestion is having meals in front of the mirror so you can notice your progress every time you push foods to your stomach. This behavior is not suitable for losing weight.
  9. Thinspo sites recommend avoiding eating at dinner. Because you don’t get enough time to burn your calories. However, you should eat your dinner at least three hours before you get to sleep so that you can get enough time to burn some calories.
Most of the Thinspo sites are filled up with crazy diet plans which you should avoid. Diet plans like Cinderella diet, Ariel’s diet, the Rainbow diet will be a better option for you.

A Journey To Fitspiration

All these controversies about the unhealthy methods of Thinspiration created awareness among the people.

Most of the followers are now looking forward to a healthier alternative-called Fitspiration.
Fitspiration has more benefits than Thinspiration.

Eating healthy and doing exercise to get fit is better than those insane Thinspo diet plans.

Nevertheless, it also becomes more dangerous when you do an intense workout. Fitspiration is almost similar to Thinspiration.

It inspirations to get a fit body instead of a weak thin figure. People share photos and workout tips on social media which is inspiring for those interested in doing exercises.

It encourages people to become muscular and also take steroids to enhance body shape. It can be equally effective and dangerous for those who don’t know their limits.

But fitspiration has failed to encourage women as it leads to compulsive exercises and extreme workouts. Some women tried to follow fitspiration along with some Thinspiration diet plans.

Now another trend has come, called Curvespiration where being skinny has less importance rather girls keep their main focus on being healthy. Some people say it’s the same as Thinspiration under disguise.

        • Hey,
If you are trying to lose weight and do it a healthy way. I would go see a nutritionist and a therapist. Anorexia is a serious mental disorder that leads to death. There are doctors out there who will help you achieve what you are looking for in a healthy manner. Now, the question is how did I come across this site? I am a psych major who is doing a paper on websites like these. There is no shame in seeking help, which, I highly advise. Listen to your doctors, eat propperly, make sure you get your thirty minutes of exercise a day, and make you are enjoying life because you only live once.

  2. I am really trying to lose weight, but my parents are not ok with It. They say I should eat, and that i’m harming my body. I really want to lose the 12kg, SO BADLY. My height Is 5’6 and weight 60kg. My goal weight Is 48kg. I already Lost 4kg, my start weight was 64kg.I still have to lose 12kg, but my parents won’t let me. What should I do??!

    • You are smack dab at your ideal weight right now. You will be very underweight at your height if you hit your goal weight of 48kg. You should see a doctor to get proper recommendations for what your weight should be and if you are concerned about what you are eating you should eat to be healthy. Lots of lean protein, fruit and veg, high fiber and healthy fats. You should also make sure that you are drinking enough water to be properly hydrated.

    • Your parents are right but if you really want to lose 12kg quick you should be eating healthy and working out. If you want to lose weight without gaining any muscle the easiest way is to burn more calories then what your eating, for example, if I was eating an apple that had 50 calories I would burn 100 calories off. Don’t forget that your weight also includes water weight and muscle.

    • if you have a baby it is not healthy to do ana. If you are breastfeeding, you will need to maintain your weight or you will hurt your baby. Ana will put your child at risk. Workout and eat healthily but do not pursue ana with a small child.

  5. For those struggling, please know that this is not the way to lose weight. I have recovered from bulimia/anorexia, and the websites like this and the hashtags on twitter are what encouraged it. Trust me i know its easier said then done but this disorder IS deadly, and life is way too short to worry about being skinny. You all have so much potential in life, If you’re little sister or cousin told you she wanted to starve herself to be skinny, I guarantee many of you wouldn’t want her doing that. Please don’t be afraid to reach out to someone for help, stay strong <3

    • fast for no more than two weeks at a time and stay away from carbs. When you eat, eat lots of leafy greens and lots of fiber and drink lots of water to get rid of bloating. Bloating can look like fat but it is just gas buildup. You cannot lose weight only with fasting and the eating I mentioned above, you also need to workout. Try to work up to about a half-hour to an hour of cardio per day. Let me know if you need any help or need me to clarify anything at all 🙂

    • So i don’t think you should fast, because it’s easier to gain weight if you do that, just eat in small portions.

Its been worse since i started up eating again. I also had some trouble with bullimia. When im emotional i still tend to throw up. For just over a year i starved every day till i couldnt get off the ground after a workout and would simply pass out on the floor. It might be bad but i felt better about myself during this time. Like it was all worth it watching pounds fade away. I was originally 235 pounds and found it hard to get around and generally function. I want to work on loosing weight again my goal is 135pounds any tips on how to achieve that from my current weight within the next 4 months?

Eat leafy greens and veggies that are more water than calories. Fruits are also good. Stay away from carbs and work up to an hour and a half to an hour of cardio per day. If you are going to fast, do so for no longer than a week to two weeks at a time, and drink more water during this time. try not to work yourself too hard during workouts during this time as you need energy for your work out to have full effect. This technique will work for just about anyone regardless of age, weight or height. If you have a waist trainer, this will reduce your appetite. Do not wear it during workouts as it will limit your breathing capabilities and you need to breath to work out. let me know if you need any help or need me to clarify anything

    • Dear 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 year old girls,
I used to be you. I used to do this. I had an eating disorder at 13 and my weight has been going up and down for years. I am 20 now. In the end, having an eating disorder at 13 has caused me a list of problems. I didn’t get enough nutrients at your age because of it and I didn’t grow to my full height potential. I am 5’3, everyone else in my family is 5’8 or taller. I developed binge eating disorder out of depression at 16. Then at 17 I developed anorexia again. At 18 I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure. I am now about to be 20 and I am on Dialysis and am waiting to get on a Kidney Transplant List. If you are feeling fat, or upset with your body, try looking into the body positivity movement, that really helps, exercise lightly, join a fun team sport, eat health meals full of nutrients. You are still growing and changing, so you take away what your body needs to grow taller and stronger. Or you could become weak. Talk to a parent, family friend, guidance counselor, therapist(online works great if you are scared, try BetterHelp). You aren’t fat, your body still has time to change. Just learn healthy habits. You should not be loosing weight. Love yourself, it is the hardest lesson to learn, but by far the most valuable in the long run❤ my email is loreleiwhite8@gmail.com

If you’d feel comfortable with sharing your weight and height, I’d definitely be willing to help you achieve a weight goal that you’d be comfortable with that also is healthy for you so that way you don’t get hospitalized. Eat veggies that are more water than calories. Stay away from carbs and work up to an hour and a half to an hour of cardio per day. Binging and purging will not make you lose weight. Don’t be scared to eat food. eating about 800-1000 calories a day is healthy. I do not know your height so I can’t be as specific with what you could do but I’d definitely be open to helping you come up with a healthy goal that you’ll feel comfortable with if you’d like

I’m 5’2 and shes 5ft and I weigh 160lbs while shes probably at 130lbs. He admitted to me that the only reason he dated me was because I reminded him of her personality wise but she’s the more beautiful one. He even told me that if he could have us both he would. I can’t stand the way I look and I’ve tried so many times to diet or exercise but it never works. I feel like the only way is to stop eating completely. I understand that he will never be mine again but that doesn’t mean I can’t at least feel good about myself for once, right? I just needed to vent. I’m sorry for such a long post.

I don´t know how I always end up in these types of sites, or why I still want to get thinner. It never goes away. The thought and picture of a thinner and more beautiful you. I have now gained around 15 kg after my recovery, and I still am not happy, because I can´t let go. I know all of the consequences of starving or purging. Those consequences Suck. They really do, and I fear them. I am now 17, and It has gotten better, but I am still not able to give up, the beautiful thought of a happy, thin, and smiling me.

I’m finally going to try to lose weight but I need help cause whenever I try not to eat I get tempted. How do you not let people know you’re not eating cause my dad makes me eat dinner and its hard to hide.

    • Hey, don’t do that. I know you commented ages ago but if you need to talk message me. I won’t encourage what you are doing but I won’t try to stop you. If you need to talk im here. My friend has anorexia and was severely underweight and was extremely close to dying because of sites like these. She got back home last week and im meeting her tomorrow. She is getting better from an ed but it has taken already 3months and will take definitely take longer for her to get better, but again if you need to talk im here. I recently turned 16btw.

  29. Any groups i could join 18+ ?
    5’9 and 9.6 stone/136 pounds.
I’m wanting to get to 8.6 stone as a first goal, then my old weight of 8.3 and then my ultimate goal to be 8 stone, though reaching into 7 sounds pretty fab to me too! I guess I’m here as I need routine and being in lockdown has made it hard for me to have that, it’s impacted my restraint towards food, luckily I’ve learnt that I can fast longer that I believed so that can be useful i suppose!! i will be motivated, lived with restriction and fasting for years now, lockdowns made me lose sight of the -I can – attitude towards the importance of what I want and need and why I love being in control of it 🙂

  30. Good morning everyone ^.^
I’m hoping some of you may be able to give me a bit of advice!!
I’ve worked extra hard on keeping my cals down this week, but now by partner is home for the weekend and he is a terrible eating influence!
Does anyone have any ideas or words of support that might help me stay strong while disgustingly unhealthy food is being pushed under my nose?
I am also hoping to find a chat or community for people around my age (I’m 24) if anyone can point me in a good direction?
Thank you so much in advance 💕

    • I really like MyNetDiary! It counts calories for you and when you workout it docks them off for you! Also it tracks how much water and your weight progress too! Hope this helps!
